Free gun locks...

Project Child Safe is providing free gun locks to town citizens.  Please see the marshal or a deputy for one.


Obtaining a gun permit....

In order to obtain a permit from the Montezuma Police Department to carry a handgun you must:
 
Reside within the town limits of Montezuma;
Come to the Montezuma Police Department and complete an application;
Bring $10 cash, money order or check payable to the Town of Montezuma:
Fingerprinting will be conducted upon completion of the application
Permit conditions and restrictions must be met prior to issuance of an application.  It may take as long as 8 weeks to receive a permit (new or renewal)



Out of state permits...

Indiana honors any right-to-carry permits issued by another state.

To inquire about a traffic ticket....

After tickets are written they are submitted to the Parke County Clerk's Office.  If you have any question about the fine, court date or any other matter, call the Clerk's office at 765-569-5132.  If they can't help you call the Parke County Prosecutor at 765-569-3111.

Obtain copies of a traffic accident report...

If you were involved in a traffic accident and would like a copy of the Officer's report:

      * A $5.00 processing fee is required at the time of the request

      * Copies are available at the Montezuma Police Department Monday -                         Friday 8:00a.m. - 4:00p.m., or

      * Send a self-addressed stamped envelope along with your request and a check or money order payable to the Montezuma Police Department

Case and Incident reports are only available by subpoena unless prior arrangements have been made with Town Marshal Charles "Chuck" Allen.

Request extra patrol of my home, business, or neighborhood...

if your home or business will be unattended for an extended period of time (e.g. vacation), you can call and request extra patrol.  If there is an incident involving your home or business while you're away, we can contact you .

Complete the appropriate form and return it to the Montezuma Police Department officer Monday - Friday 8am - 4pm

If you would like extra patrol of you home, neighborhood or business because of a specific incident or situation other than stated above, you must speak with an officer by calling the Parke County Sheriff's Department Dispatch at (765)-569-5413.

Requests for extra traffic patrol can be made by calling the Montezuma Police Department at 765-245-2590 Monday - Friday 8am-4pm or by e-mail at :  montezumapdin@cji.net

Ride along with a Montezuma Police Officer...

As part of our continuing commitment to police-community relationship, we offer citizens the opportunity to ride along with the Montezuma Police Department.  Below are a list of the requirements that must be met prior to participation in this program:

Rider must have valid Photo Identification while riding.

A rider-waiver must be completed and returned to the Montezuma Police Department.  Persons under the age of twenty-one (21) must have waivers signed by a parent of guardian.  No one under the age of eighteen (18) will be allowed to ride.

Rider-waiver forms can be picked up at the Montezuma Police department Monday - Friday 8 AM to 4 PM

The rider-waiver form must be approved and signed by the Town Marshal prior to riding.
